Support Groups“I’m sorry, you’re positive.” You’ve heard the words, maybe last week, maybe last month, maybe it’s been years. Now what? Its painful and scary no matter who you are. You’re pretty sure you can handle the news, but perhaps as time goes on you realize you aren’t sure how to deal with it. Are you feeling isolated as many of us with HIV do? There is a place you can turn to, to learn about the virus; a place to feel the needed and real support of peers and to gather strength from knowing how to better care of yourself. That place is theNET.

theNET is a support group series for newly diagnosed men and women, as well as those who may have been living long-term with HIV but do not feel they have examined their emotional and physical wellbeing deeply enough. theNET was developed and is facilitated by HIV positive people for HIV positive people. Each NET series runs for 12 weeks, with a group size averaging 15 people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, and ethnic backgrounds. theNETcovers topics such as:

- Dealing with Diagnosis
- HIV and Stigma
- Disclosure Issues
- Sex and HIV
- Substance Use and Abuse
- Giving Back to Each Other & Our Community

There are also guest speakers that discuss topics like HIV and Your Health Care, and The Importance of Anal Health and HIV.

theNET is happy to now offer support series in Boulder CO! The Boulder NET, just like the Denver NET, is a 12-week closed group that repeats throughout the year.

theNET is providing a Drop-in support group every Friday 5pm-7pm at Rocky Mountain CARES - 4545 E 9th Ave Suite 110 Denver CO 80220.  Our Drop-in group also welcomes HIV- people who wish to become better support systems for their HIV+ loved ones and get support for themselves.

There is a place where you can surround yourself with others who understand first-hand the tears you’ve shed, the fear that sometimes takes your breath away, and the strength that at times you didn’t know you had. That place is theNET.

Isn’t that the point of community to catch each other when we fall?
